I hope to evoke a sense of surprise from viewers by drawing a comparison between a semi-automatic rifle and an object one might not expect to be banned or that was banned immediately after a life-threatening incident happened. My call to action is to get people to both get informed and demand gun sense in America, which they can learn more on the Moms Demand Action website. Advocating for gun regulation is an important topic that usually isn’t talked about until a mass shooting happens, which is completely senseless given the fact that it’s the second leading cause of death among children and teens. While conducting research for this project, I learned about the alarming statistics regarding gun violence. I also learned just how unnervingly easily it is to acquire a gun here in the States. This is why I chose to compare a gun with seemingly common objects, such as a chocolate egg, lettuce, and a children’s book.
